Ground Magnetic Survey

Simulated data
Walk one unit along survey lines while a second unit holds still as base station. The base removes the field's drift over time; what remains is the ground.
Survey mapstationstruth

No stations yet. Mark the first station and the map starts here; it grows as you walk.

Depth estimate

Need ≥ 12 stations across ≥ 2 lines.

Vertical-dipole approximation; depth is order-of-magnitude. Confidence is computed from fit quality and search sharpness, never asserted.

Structural index
Window cells

Grid at about the station spacing before running Euler: IDW has zero gradient at every station, so the depth depends on the cell size (current: 2.00 m).

Export

GeoJSON needs at least one station with a lat/lon fix — set an origin via GPS first, or export CSV instead.

Resolution 2.7 nT at 1 sample/s. Magnetics only sees magnetic minerals — magnetite, pyrrhotite, some iron-rich alteration; copper sulfides without pyrrhotite, gold and brines are invisible to this method. A fixed line of units watches the field change over time; only a walked survey maps what is under the ground.
